President Muhammadu Buhari who is the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC has won his polling unit, Kofar Baru polling unit 003, Sarkin Yara ward, with 523 votes.
Buhari defeats his main rival from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who is the former vice-president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar. Atiku only polled 3 votes in Kofar Baru.
President Buhari earlier said he is optimistic about winning and he is sure victory would be his at the end of the election.
President Buhari was reported to have cast his vote at few minutes past 8: 00 am today at the polling unit alongside his wife, Aisha Buhari.
Although, there are total 73 presidential candidates participating in today's election. The real contest is expected to be between President Buhari and Atiku Abubakar.
Meanwhile, the election period has been extended in some polling units where voting started late.
11 votes were rejected, 224 votes for APC, 2 votes for PDP in Kofar Baru.
The final result will be announced at INEC headquarters in Abuja.
