I'm not sure why the Sounds would abandon such an amazing logo, especially after such a brief time. It's also hard to believe that it's been a little over three years since the home cap was featured on the site! |
Another thing that's hard to say goodbye to is the "Bred" (black and red) MILB batterman as the newest Sounds caps are dark navy, which I find to be interesting because they certainly could have gone with a Pantone 288 to match their parent club in Dallas. |
For this latest rebrand, the Sounds went with a design firm called RARE which is based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for this ephemeral design and I'm certainly glad to have scooped up a few caps on clearance from their team store before they cut over to the new logo.
I also find it interesting that the Sounds revamped their wordmark to include Red Sox-esque serifs (pictured above, left) rather than sticking to the Rangers lettering (above, right) however it's possible they felt they wanted to maintain some distance creatively.
This cap is not going on the Trading Block however please do not hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
